What is a CaseAssist® Confirmation?

Consider this. You’ve taken the first step toward resolving a legal issue, and after answering a few questions about your situation, you receive a CaseAssist® confirmation.

Your CaseAssist® confirmation is designed to help you feel confident moving forward by clearly outlining your coverage and next steps before you begin working with an attorney.

While it’s an important document, it’s also meant to be easy to understand.

Here’s how it works.

What Is a CaseAssist® confirmation?

A CaseAssist® confirmation is a coverage summary based on the information you provided when starting your case. Once your coverage is confirmed, you will receive an email with a link to view – and most of the time, you can also find it in your online member portal.

Think of it as a roadmap to your legal insurance benefits, not a contract or a bill. Coverage is confirmed based on the details you share and the terms of your plan, and it helps set expectations before legal work begins.

How Your CaseAssist® confirmation helps you move forward

Your confirmation helps remove uncertainty early in the process by:

  • Detailing tips for moving forward
  • Explaining how attorney fees are covered and any other costs that may apply
  • Providing network attorney contact details, any ratings and reviews and profile information so you can choose an attorney that’s the best match for your situation

It’s an important reference point to use throughout your case, especially when speaking with an attorney.

What information is included in your CaseAssist® confirmation?

1. Your CaseAssist® confirmation number

Located directly at the top, this is your CaseAssist® confirmation number. Network attorneys will use this number to bill ARAG for their services on your behalf, look up your coverage or reach out to Customer Care with questions about your coverage.

2. Case progress tracker

The case progress tracker provides a visual status of progress to match you with attorneys.

3. Case details

This section summarizes the legal issue you requested help with, based on the information you provided and your policy terms. It also shows the date the case was created, who the case is for and your member ID.

4. Review your coverage

Your case coverage specifics are detailed here. It will identify if your matter is paid in full, capped hours, contingency, reduced fee and what you can expect to pay for attorney fees (if anything) and/or other fees.

5. Connect with a network attorney

Your CaseAssist® confirmation also helps you take the next step when connecting with an attorney. You’ll see a list of network attorneys relevant to your legal matter, including contact details, any member ratings and reviews and updates and details about your attorney match. At times, you may be prompted to share a bit more information to help us better support your case.

You may also see information for virtual network attorneys – this means they’ve indicated they can handle your case from start to finish without meeting in person.

Keep in mind, you can contact one or more network attorneys to confirm availability and find the best fit. When reaching out, be sure to share your CaseAssist® confirmation number, which helps the network attorney access your coverage details.

6. Help section

If anything on your CaseAssist® confirmation is incorrect or you have questions about getting started, visit the Help Center, to get connected with Customer Care. If any information is later found to be inaccurate, or if additional details come to light that affect your coverage, ARAG may review and adjust this determination as needed

What happens after you receive your CaseAssist® confirmation?

Once your confirmation is provided, you should:

  • Review your coverage carefully
  • Watch for updates if ARAG is in the process of matching you with an attorney.
  • Choose and contact network attorneys to get started
  • Keep the confirmation for reference throughout your case

Having a summary of your issue, documents and questions ready can help you make the most of your first conversation with an attorney.
