As Chief Financial Officer, Kara Hogue is responsible for all the company’s financial functions, including accounting, audit, corporate finance, tax, investor relations and underwriting. She also oversees facilities management and planning for the organization.
Prior to joining ARAG as controller in 2016, Kara spent 10 years in audit and tax roles in public accounting. Kara is known for her ability to strike a balance between traditional number-crunching and communicating important information to internal and external parties. She’s not the stereotypical accountant who’s most comfortable with her calculator. Kara thrives on spending time with people, and she gets involved with interviews, training opportunities and special projects outside the finance department. She has a can-do attitude and remains positive in a deadline-driven environment.
Kara holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and master’s degree in accounting from Iowa State University. She is also a Certified Public Accountant.
Outside of work, Kara is dedicated to giving back to her community. Specifically, she is passionate about children and education. She is a Sunday school teacher, the past president of the Ankeny School Foundation and past treasurer of Everybody Wins! Iowa. Kara enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, attending sporting events and reading.
